I need to use a soldering iron for this project, but I don't have one. I would get one, but my parents probably wouldn't let me because they'd think I'd burn the house down with it. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this sounds dumb to ask but can I use my straightener instead of a soldering iron? The highest is 410 degrees, but that might be nothing compared to a soldering iron. I don't know much about soldering irons, except that I need it in this project. Thanks.

410F is about right for the melting point for some tin-lead solders, though a typical temperature-controlled iron would have a range 250°C – 450°C (somewhat above the melting point, as you need a temperature difference to transfer energy) You can't easily burn down a house with a soldering iron (unlike, say, a gas stove or cigarette lighter) - best you can do is melt a hole in the carpet. If you actually want to solder something like wires, the only reasonable substitute for a good soldering iron is a bad soldering iron. Messing around with a blowtorch and a nail doesn't really work, apart from being much more hazardous. You need an iron and rosin-cored solder. If your parents are nuts, go to a friend's house.
