I'm Superior In Every Way asked What is the normal operating temperature of a Laptop?

By this I mean when enviromental variables are not an influence. I ask b/c mine is always running very hot,(minimum 65C) even with a laptop cooler and an external fan on it. Also, does anyone know of a fan control utility for HP/Compaq, not just a monitor, but an actual controller?

And got the following answer:

You didnt list the model. Most laptops have fan speed regulated by temperature. If the fan doesn't kick in when the laptop gets hot, check the connections, or replace the fan. 65C is WAY too high to operate. There is no reason for the chip to get this hot unless there is a short on the Mobo. It may be time to get a new laptop.
