sb asked My sister is in Iraq and I want to send her an electrical converter. What kind to I need to buy?
I don't really know anything about electronics, but I do know that she would need an adapter/converter/transformer- or something of that nature if I wanted to send her something that plugs in. Could anyone tell me what I need to buy, and how much it might cost? links to websites that offer what I need would be of great help, too.
And got the following answer:
The above answer is correct for a plug converter, if you want to change voltage from 220 to 110, you'll need a voltage converter. All of Iraq is running on 220 (more like 230-250). Make SURE you check all the electric devices you plan to run before you plug them in. They WILL burn up when you plug them in if they are 110. You can buy cheap converters in Iraq, but they do not meet safety standards. Nothing electrical you buy in Iraq is very safe, so make sure you keep that in mind. That is why there are many electrical fires.
